It's easy to get caught up in the stresses of strains of life, and to forget that our experience is being created from the inside out, and not the other way round. Every day life happens around us but our experience of it is unique to us, nothing can make us feel a certain way on a permanent basis, our responses change moment to moment. That email that was so irritating yesterday looks different today, the admin that you don't mind one week feels unbearable the following week and so on. That's part of the human experience.

By putting a lot of focus on the idea of stress it is easy to spiral into getting stressed about the stress and giving it a special importance. Your mind gives you more of what you point it at, and the more you think about something, the more definition you give it, the more real it becomes. The same goes for stress.

In the moment, if you can treat the stressful feelings you're experiencing more lightly, and not get on that thought train, you'll be amazed at how they pass more quickly.
